A FREE ART PROGRAM FOR CREATIVE YOUTHS, INSPIRING IMAGINATIONS WITH DRY PASTELS

Pastel Art for Kids is a summer long program that provides fun art instruction to underprivileged kids, teaching art in a different yet fun medium: dry pastels and charcoal pencils. The program teaches the Gluck Method, one of the world’s most successful fine art instructions. With this method, students will learn simple yet important techniques, such as how to sketch basic shapes and blend different colors with their fingers.

The program is divided into four lessons: prepping to draw, sketching the first step drawing, using the pastels to color and blend, and finally adding tones. Before they even start their first step drawing, students will learn how to lightly sketch basic shapes and hold the charcoal pencil. Then, when they have mastered this skill, they are ready to incorporate basic shapes into their step drawing. By the end of the program, each student will have completed their own vibrant pastel drawing, which will be framed and displayed at their sites.

OUR MISSION

We aim to provide effective art instruction so kids can create realistic artwork with dimension and perspective even from their first drawing, starting from sketching basic shapes to blending pastel colors to create beautiful gradients. Follow us on our journey to inspire imagination and confidence, one child at a time.

"IT HAS BEEN A REWARDING EXPERIENCE FOR ME AS AN ARTIST."

I had never thought that I would have enjoyed teaching children this much, but after seeing their creativity blossom within the few hours of class makes me wish that the time spent with them could be longer. I am able to expose something that gives me so much joy to younger aspiring artists. I'm so thankful for this opportunity, which has allowed me to partake in meeting and teaching some of the brightest children I've met. Pastel Art for Kids has truly been an eye-opening experience for me this summer.
